Staging A Bedroom For Sale

When you’ve had a long day at work or you’re returning from some time away from home, there is no better feeling than being able to collapse on your own bed in the comfort of your own home. As you’re preparing to sell your home, you want to be able to convey that type of comfort to your buyers and entice them with the benefits of buying your home.

In today’s post, we’ll take a look at the best ways you can stage the bedrooms in your home to get them ready for sale. When you work with KS Nelson Group in Florida, you can count on our experienced real estate agents to partner with you to make sure your home looks its absolute best for any situation! 1. Cleaning

Just like we’ve discussed in our previous blogs about staging the living room and staging the kitchen, cleaning will be the very first step you must take as you start staging your bedrooms. Doing a deep clean of the room means you need to dust all the surfaces and hard to reach nooks and crannies, vacuum the carpets or rugs, and clean the hard floors. Make sure everything is almost sparkling as you get ready to take real estate photos or show your home.

2. Organization

Your bedroom is your safe haven, which means it can easily become one of the most cluttered spaces in your home. Not only will you want to pick up all your dirty laundry and take out the garbage, but removing items you normally don’t think about like phone chargers or water bottles is also key. You want this space to look as neat and tidy as possible. While you’re removing various items, it’s a good idea to depersonalize the space a bit too. Keeping a few photos on the dresser may be okay, but you want your potential buyers to be able to see their own items in the room and photos on the walls. Any items that are coming with you to your new home you can keep in a storage unit or pack them up into your car whenever you are ready to show the home.

3. Paint The Walls

If you’ve painted your room a fun color to match your individual style or if it’s just been a long time since you last painted the walls and the color is starting to look dingy, now can be a great time to put a fresh coat on the walls. Neutral colors like tan or light gray are great colors that can be inviting and show a blank canvas for your buyers as they plan out their own bedroom schemes.

4. Use Lighting

Much like other spaces in the home, using natural lighting wherever possible is the best idea. However, if you don’t have as much natural light as you’d like or you will be showing the home in the evening when light won’t be streaming through the windows, you can use lamps and overhead lighting to brighten up the space.

5. Make The Bed

You don’t have to have a beautiful bed set to make your bed look nice and neat. Making the bed, organizing the pillows, and folding all extra blankets is an absolute must. If you do choose to upgrade your bedding or headboard so it looks more appealing, you’ll get to bring those fun new additions with you to your new home!

6. Take Care Of Spare Rooms

If you have a multi-bedroom home, you may be using one for storage, an office space, or as a guest room. Make sure each of these spaces is also cleaned and organized so you are ready to show them off to potential buyers. If a room is simply sitting empty or full of clutter, take the time to remove excess boxes and junk and make the room seem like it has a purpose. This can make your home feel more lively and get buyers excited about new potentials when they move in.

7. Children’s Bedrooms

Living with kids means rooms that are always a bit more messy than the rest of the house. But as you prepare to show the home, work with your children to make sure their rooms are fully organized and cleaned. You can even create a box of toys that is easily packed away to store under their beds or bring with you in the car so they don’t feel like playing with their fun toys if off limits.
